Think Bella! – “How to Remove Wallpaper – Quickly & Easily”
Posted on June 21, 2012Ron Hazelton shares an easy way to remove difficult wallpaper. One note, with this method you will have many holes on your walls, so you will need to apply a skim coat of drywall mud to fill all of the holes. Then let the wall dry, lightly sand, wipe down with a damp cloth and apply a good primer paint to close the wall. Your wall should be good to go for a New Decorative Finish, such as a Faux Finish, Venetian Plaster or Italian Finish. There are also many incredible New Wallpapers available today to consider for your project.

Think Bella! – “How To Create the Wow Effect”
Posted on May 19, 2012Bella Faux Finishes – Here is a short video of a few of our projects and some of the drama that can be created when you introduce a unique Decorative Finish or texture. From Italian Venetian Plaster, Venetian Plaster, Italian Finishes to Faux Finishes. The Interior Design challenge is to identify where your opportunities are, the unique texture to introduce and the perfect color that change the drama of the room.
“Less is More” – One of the most common mistakes today is to introduce too many effects. Keep it simple, to maximize the drama and effect of the… specific finish. Less, almost always creates a greater chance of creating “The Wow Effect”.
Exception, on larger projects, executive home or commercial businesses, the design goals are very high. So it is common to finish most of the interior walls to pull all of the various Interior Design Elements, Marble, Drapery and Unique Architecture together. Visit our Gallery for Interior Design Ideas and click on the Before & After Photos to see how we can change a common wall to a Work of Art.

Think Bella! – “Why do Ceilings get so little Respect, when there are so many Opportunities to Wow?” by Mark Nordgren
Posted on April 26, 2012By Far… the most overlooked opportunity to create drama in a home today, is your Ceiling. Ceilings are truly the Rodney Dangerfield of Interior Design ideas. They rarely get any respect. Commonly called “The Fifth Wall”, unfortunately they do not often find their way on an Interior Designers Concept or Mood Board. Home Builders may add a crows foot texture and call it good.
What they don’t realize, is the amount of drama that can be created in such a small area, just by introducing a unique texture on a tray or dramatic ceiling. It is incredible! I wish you could hear the comments from various subs on projects as we are creating our Art, to the final effect and comments shared by all. You truly have to see the before and after, to understand this emotion.
Look at this picture from a previous project of ours, What is the Texture? How would you describe it to someone? What do you think it feels like? How was it created? Finally….. what is it? Who was the Artisan? This is what happens to us, when we are on projects. Interest in our finishes begins the very first day. Curiosity in what it is, where in Italy it comes from and how we create this effect is the beginning of the drama. The completion of the finish, for David and I, is like saying goodbye to an old friend. Our Art is complete, our work is done, it will now be passed on to a new owner. We love Ceilings!

Think Bella! – “Scagliola – 17th Century Tuscany Technique used to Create Marble… Incredible!”
Posted on April 25, 2012Scagliola is a technique dating back to the 17th century in Italy, used to create columns or imitate a marble that can no longer be found. David and I are both fascinated by this Art. The possibilities would be endless to introduce something unique to a project. Scagliola is at the top of our list of new effects to bring to… Bella Faux Finishes.

Think Bella! – “History of Italian Venetian Plaster”
Posted on March 21, 2012Our favorite Decorative Finish by far… is imported Italian Venetian Plaster. The effect is breathtaking on a Ceiling, Wall or Column. Paul Linden of Venetian Plaster Masters in San Diego, California, does a great job of explaining the history of Italian Venetian Plaster.

Think Bella! – “Find Your Passion, Steve Jobs shares…Why this is so Important”
Posted on February 11, 2012“Unlimited Passion”, is the only way you can take an idea and bring it to form. The passing of Steve Jobs reminds us that our day is coming soon, life is so brief. If you have an idea to share with the world, now is the time to begin. When David, Michael and I started Bella Faux Finishes in 2005, I fell in love with the idea of creating a company that specialized in Unique and Dramatic Finishes for Homes and Business’s. Our Goal is to present clients with a large portfolio of Color and Texture from around the world. I am excited about combining our Blog – Bella Faux Finishes TV with our new website. Our Blog will be our main platform to share Interior Design ideas and interviews with some of the best Artisans and Interior Designers from around the world. Finally, is was sad for my Apple family, to hear that Steve Jobs passed. His magic was the ability to visualize into the future, crystal clear, the best path to follow. Who else can do that? Amazing…
