Think Bella! – “Before & After Pictures… Everyone Loves Them!”
Posted on March 26, 2013Are you just starting a New Project? Find your camera and always take many “Before Pictures”, when starting a new project. It is so important to have Before & After picture. When the pictures are placed side by side, you can determine and truly measure the level of drama you have created with your talented team of Artisans and Interior Designers. For some projects, you may not raise the “Wow Bar” very high at all. Which could be disappointing. But for other projects, it may be hard to measure “The Wow Effect” you have created. You will hear comments from family and friends for years to come…
My middle son David, and co-owner of Bella Faux Finishes, has also been working on another project. David and Amber are proud to announce the birth of their new Son, “Owen James Nordgren” on March 26, 2013. We are so happy and proud of both of them! Kathy and I are Grandparents for the first time, which is Very Exciting!
So if you are just starting a new project, whether its a new baby or a New Home or Remodeling project, it is so important to choose your team members wisely. Meet with them and ask many questions. Learn more about their talents, credibility and trustworthiness. View their portfolio of projects and Testimonials. Ask to see their Before & After project pictures. Think Bella! – “Are you Building or Remodeling soon? Look Up…Your Most Affordable Wow Location is Right Above Your Head”
Posted on November 4, 2012One of your most affordable and unique areas in your Home or Business to create “The Wow Effect” is your Tray Ceiling. A stunning Decorative Finish, Venetian Plaster, Italian Finish or Faux Finish on a Tray Ceiling, can create a new level of drama that wasn’t there before. Everyone is always looking for ideas on how make their home special and a little different than everyone else’s.
If you are building or remodeling, consider adding a little magic to your Tray Ceiling in your Dining Room or Master Bedroom. Because your footage is small, your investment is affordable for almost every budget. Go through our Gallery and click on “Before & After” Photos to give you some ideas. Also click on “Ceilings“. I wish you could see these projects in person. The Home Owners “Testimonials” we have received through the years, express thoughts for our Art. Click on About to learn more about Bella Faux Finishes and their Artisans.
One Important Note – If you are building, ask your builder to “Not” put any texture or Crows Foots on your Tray Ceiling. This will save you some money. If you do have a Tray Ceiling with a Crows Foot Texture on it, that is not a problem. We will just have to float that smooth first.

Think Bella! – “Considering a New Decorative Finish, Faux Finish or Italian Finish?
Posted on October 20, 2012Less is More… almost Always! On New Projects, David and I are big believers that you really do not need alot of Decorative Finishes to change the drama of an entire project. You are looking for a “unique area”, where you can introduce a new Texture or Effect that will “Interrupt the Senses”. Thats the Key! One small area, can have everyone that views your home going… Wow, that was so Cool! What was that finish?
So… from our experience, in most homes, less really is more. You just need to introduce a “Taste” in a few areas. Exceptions, unless you are on a Grand Castle like we were last year, then the sky is the limit for effect and drama…

Think Bella! – “How To Create the Wow Effect”
Posted on May 19, 2012Bella Faux Finishes – Here is a short video of a few of our projects and some of the drama that can be created when you introduce a unique Decorative Finish or texture. From Italian Venetian Plaster, Venetian Plaster, Italian Finishes to Faux Finishes. The Interior Design challenge is to identify where your opportunities are, the unique texture to introduce and the perfect color that change the drama of the room.
“Less is More” – One of the most common mistakes today is to introduce too many effects. Keep it simple, to maximize the drama and effect of the… specific finish. Less, almost always creates a greater chance of creating “The Wow Effect”.
Exception, on larger projects, executive home or commercial businesses, the design goals are very high. So it is common to finish most of the interior walls to pull all of the various Interior Design Elements, Marble, Drapery and Unique Architecture together. Visit our Gallery for Interior Design Ideas and click on the Before & After Photos to see how we can change a common wall to a Work of Art.

Think Bella! – “Why do Ceilings get so little Respect, when there are so many Opportunities to Wow?” by Mark Nordgren
Posted on April 26, 2012By Far… the most overlooked opportunity to create drama in a home today, is your Ceiling. Ceilings are truly the Rodney Dangerfield of Interior Design ideas. They rarely get any respect. Commonly called “The Fifth Wall”, unfortunately they do not often find their way on an Interior Designers Concept or Mood Board. Home Builders may add a crows foot texture and call it good.
What they don’t realize, is the amount of drama that can be created in such a small area, just by introducing a unique texture on a tray or dramatic ceiling. It is incredible! I wish you could hear the comments from various subs on projects as we are creating our Art, to the final effect and comments shared by all. You truly have to see the before and after, to understand this emotion.
Look at this picture from a previous project of ours, What is the Texture? How would you describe it to someone? What do you think it feels like? How was it created? Finally….. what is it? Who was the Artisan? This is what happens to us, when we are on projects. Interest in our finishes begins the very first day. Curiosity in what it is, where in Italy it comes from and how we create this effect is the beginning of the drama. The completion of the finish, for David and I, is like saying goodbye to an old friend. Our Art is complete, our work is done, it will now be passed on to a new owner. We love Ceilings!
